macOS · for Claude Code & Codex

Stop babysitting
your agents.

You run five agent sessions — Claude here, Codex there — and alt-tab between them like a zookeeper. Island puts every agent in your Mac's notch — approve edits, answer questions, and watch your usage without ever leaving your editor.

Why you'll want it

Your agents are fast.
You're the bottleneck.

Be honest — right now you have sessions running that stopped minutes ago, waiting for a yes from you. Permission to edit a file. A question. A plan sign-off. Every minute you don't notice is a minute you paid for and didn't get. Island puts those asks in the one place you can't miss from any app: your notch.

DeclineApprove
Approvals stop killing your flow

The moment an agent needs permission, the actual diff — line numbers, red and green — drops below the notch. Press ⌘Y to approve, ⌘N to decline, without touching the terminal it came from. Two choices, both honored by Claude Code and Codex exactly as if you'd answered in the terminal.

Five terminals, zero confusion

Each session gets its own pixel creature, generated from the session itself. It dances in blue while the agent works, turns amber the second it needs you, and settles green when it's done. One glance at the notch tells you the state of everything you're running.

Never hit the limit by surprise

Island reads the real 5-hour and weekly windows from your own Claude login — the same numbers /usage shows — with reset countdowns and a per-project breakdown of where the tokens actually went. Plan the heavy work, skip the mid-task lockout.

The right terminal, one click away

When you do need to type, click the session and Island focuses the exact terminal it lives in — the right iTerm2 tab, tmux pane, or Cursor panel. No cycling through windows trying to remember which one asked.

Local & private

Your code never leaves your Mac. Ever.

You're right to be suspicious of tools that watch your terminal. So here's the whole trick: Island is a couple of Claude Code hooks and a listener on 127.0.0.1. No cloud, no account, no telemetry — and if you quit it, everything behaves exactly as before.

01
Claude Code fires a hook when a session starts, needs permission, asks a question, or finishes.
02
The hook posts to localhost only. Your code and prompts never touch a server — there isn't one.
03
Island renders it in your notch and sends your decision back. Quit Island and Claude Code behaves exactly as stock.

FAQ

You're probably wondering…

What do I need?

A Mac with macOS 14+ on Apple Silicon, and Claude Code or Codex (v0.144+). Island watches both in any terminal, plus the Claude desktop app. On first launch, click Install Hooks once to connect both agents. It's nicest on a notched MacBook; on external displays it becomes a floating pill.

Is my code safe?

It never leaves your machine. The listener binds to 127.0.0.1, there's no account and no telemetry, and usage numbers come from your own local Claude login.

What if Island isn't running?

Hooks fail open — Claude Code behaves exactly as it did before you installed Island. Zero lock-in, uninstall from the menu bar anytime.

Really $5, lifetime?

Yes. One payment, one Mac, free updates forever. The license is transferable: deactivate on the old Mac, activate on the new one with the same key.

Which terminals can it jump to?

iTerm2, Terminal, Ghostty, Warp, WezTerm, Kitty, Alacritty, tmux panes, and the VS Code / Cursor integrated terminals.

How do I install and activate?

After checkout, run the one-line install command from the confirmation panel — it downloads Island straight into /Applications and launches it (installing via curl also means no Gatekeeper "unidentified developer" wall). Then: menu bar → Activate License → paste the key from your email → done. Prefer clicking? There's a direct download too — right-click → Open the first time.
